The
Album
Hi…
The
record company wanted me to write about this record. I told them I
wrote the record, so what’s the point? I mean, imagine
walking up to Burroughs, and asking, “Yo, Bill…can you write a couple blurbs
about Naked Lunch?”
Then
I smacked myself upside the head, realized I wasn't William F'n Burroughs, and
wrote the following:
I
love it here - America, I mean, so I'm pissed off and scared and troubled. Our
comfort level has mesmerized us into a numbness that even the
impossible horror of 9/11 failed to snap. Politicians do nothing (except
continue to get nabbed for illegal monkey business) because the current
administration is impotent - erectile dysfunction of the frontal lobe. Immigration
policy failure, unconstitutional Orwellian "security" taps,
an unwinnable war, corruption in almost every federal agency from the CIA to the
SSA, failed social programs, and on and on and on. Our position in the
world theatre has dropped faster than Ozzy fell from reality TV to rehab.
It's
that numbness thing. We watch like helpless baby ducks. We moan as we sift
through our portfolios. We whine as we hand a hundred dollar bill to the
guy who just filled up our Hummer. And in all our smug intellectualizing, we
don't have a clue of a clue of how powerful we can be. Since
my wife put the kibosh on me heading up a revolution, I am relegated
to do one of the few things I do with any competency...

I can
lyrically and musically shed some light on the madness. Will it do any
good? Maybe. If I make enough noise, covertly educate under
the guise of entertainment, maybe a charismatic creature or two will emerge
and stir the soup. Until then, do your best to stay informed and blame
no one else until you do something.
Oh
yeah
below, there are some
comments to help you get a head start about what it is I happened to be dissatisfied
with at the time. See ya.

Palumbo
The
Producer:
Rob
Stevens is a brilliant producer/mixer who is
currently executive producing the new
collaborations that pair Cat Power, The
Flaming Lips, Basement Jaxx, Polyphonic Spree, Apples in Stereo,
and Peaches, with Yoko Ono (Astralwerks). Rob has
also produced and/or mixed albums by John Lennon
(the posthumous "Anthology") and The Red
Hot Chili Peppers, among many others.
Rob
thinks Palumbo is a timeless freaking genius
in a world overpopulated with spineless one hit
wonders.
He
also knows that Palumbo's been thinking and
writing about things like the inequities in
our world and the folly of our leaders and most of
their wars for more than just a week
or two. And he does it with fury
and a smirk.
Nutritious
ear candy.
Plus
he never supported the Patriot
Act.
